Hello all,
after trying to install the standalone updates failed, also rendering photoshop and illustrator unusable, I've managed to solve the problem with this procedure (I'm on os x):
- run the cleaner tool
- remove ALL apps, all versions
- checked my applications folder for 'adobe' applications folders that might be left and deleted them
- manually deleted all adobe utilities in the utility folder
- manually deleted all the adobe folders under application support (both in the system and user libraries)
- downloaded the latest adobe application manager
- redownloaded + installed necessary apps
- ran updater
everything went well. A funny thing was that after After Effects was installed, while everything else was being downloaded, I've ran the standalone 11.0.2 updater and it worked fine. After the installation of the rest finished, I tried the standalone updaters for Illustrator and Photoshop I had downloaded yesterday, and both of them failed to install.
So I ran the updater and it managed to update all apps automatically.

When i do my installation of Adobe After effects cs6, i install as trial version, because i want to see what it is like, and i do everything like everyone says, and then it stops at 2 percent saying Installation Failed and it comes up with these solutions, and i did them all about 5 times and it STILL wont work! SOMEBODY HELP!

My old computer has crashed, and so I built a new one recently. I have been installing all the applications for it, downloading files, so on and so forth. I recently insterted one of the hardrives from my old computer, and was able to see the files I had from my old computer. All of my adobe applications are on there, and I can see them, however; I cannot use them, which is okay, since most of them were free applications that I could download from the website. But Adobe After Effects CS6, which is the application I really need, does not open it; instead, it reads: 'Configuration Error: Please uninstall and reinstall the product. Error: 16'. I bought the CD for After Effects last summer, but I cannot find it anywhere. I heard you don't need the CD to transfer the license to a new computer, but I can't figure out how to do this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, since after building my computer, I have absolutely no funds nor interest to buy another After Effects CD.

You must have the activation number provided when you purchased your CS6 product. If you don't, find proof of purchase (a receipt or credit card statement) and call Adobe Support.

I tried uninstalling AE CS6 and then reinstalling AE CS6 - same issue happened.
AE was working fine until I tried to open it today. It's probably been a couple weeks since I last used it.
I don't know if I'm able to get any help here. It' just an issue I don't know how to troubleshoot.

I am trying to follow your advice and install AE CS6 through the Creative Cloud application, but it seems that I can only install AE CC through the Creative Cloud application.
The text on this page ( http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-cc-and-cs6-apps.html ) seems to indicate that I can choose a version to download, but when I navigate to the linked download page ( https://creative.adobe.com/products/aftereffects ), I am not given the option to choose which version to download. I can only download AE CC through Creative Cloud.

I've tried the latest available update 11.0.3 but does not correct the problem. I wonder when will be ready the solution because with Illustrator CS6 also was the same but with the solution described in this page, http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/illustrator-does-not-start-windows-81.html was solved perfectly.

That such a friend, for I tell you that none of their solutions is an option for me because:
• Wait a couple of months with no after effects in the hope That a patch will come .. someday
R:/ The problem is not mine, is problem of Abode and therefore investing heavily in the creative suite CS6 and for that to be an option.
It's not fair to have to beg for a solution.
• Upgrade to CC and enjoy all the latest features
R:/ It is not possible , because we will not spend more money than they already invested in Suite CS6
• Use After Effects CS6 in English
R:/ It is not possible as the staff in charge of managing this program if it is not handled in English and therefore bought the suite in Spanish .
• Roll your computer back to Windows 8 instead of 8.1
R:/ It is not possible as it is known all Windows 8.0 failures we have put in 8.1 PRO .
I do not understand is that if Adobe Illustrator had the same problem and it was fixed within a couple of days getting the patch , why not do the same with After Effects CS6 in Spanish . All users of this suite CS6 and buyers deserve respect and prompt solution to the problems that are the fault of Adobe.
So like a year ago I purchased adobe after effects. I used it almost every day till about 2 months ago till I started using another video editing program. So for 2 months I did not open AE. Today I felt like using it because I felt it would do a better job that sony vegas so I tried to open it. It brought up the purple icon and it gave me an error. 'After Effects error:Crash in progress. Last logged message was (number here changes every time i do it) <dynamiclink> <5> c:/program files/adobe/adobe after effects cs6/support files/32/dynamiclinkmanger.exe. after this messege it just automatically exits after saying it crashed. The short version is that you either have changed your graphics setup, messed up your CoDecs, done something weird to your media cache or have permissions/ security issues or whatever. Since you failed to provide any system information we can't be any more specific.

I just bought a teacher Edition of Adobe Production Premium. I installed the softwares on my Mac which is running OS Lion 10.8.2. Everything works except Adobe After Effects CS6 and Adobe Premiere CS6. It always start up with the splash page then a pop up window opens that reads unexpected error occured send to apple.
I don't understand because Photoshop, illustrator and the other softwares worked fine.
I have tried uninstalling, re-installing, re-starting and even tried to download the After Effects CS6 and Premiere CS6 on creative cloud thinking that maybe those on the web will be more updated to address the issue.
But still I cant get it to work.

I have encountered a problem opening the .aep files in the 'Project_Files' folder, I was prompted with the following error message 'After Effects warning: 9 files are missing since you last saved this project.'
When I try finding the missing images, it is not found in the folder or disc. Due to this problem, I cannot make full use of the video lessons.

Without knowing exactly where that file came from, exact system info and other details nobody can say anything. m2t is just a generic file extension for a variety of MPEG-2 based formats and some of them are simply not supported. and forget about ffdshow. AE doesn't care for DirectDraw accelerated CoDecs.

HP 15-d030nr, what upgrades do I need to make in order to be able to use adobe after effects cs6?
I installed Adobe After Effectss CS6 because I was told by HP Support that it would still work; it doesnt. It is very slow, and locks up bad. What upgrades do I need to do, or am I looking at having to go buy another labtop? Also, can I do these upgrades myself - at what cost?

Your problem is that the program wants a good video card and a fast hard drive and lots of memory and you have none of the above. If you upgraded the RAM to 8 gigs and installed a solid state hard drive you might make the program useable but the real bottleneck is going to be the Intel HD graphics, which cannot be upgraded.
You do have an open slot to add one 4 gig memory module. This is an easy relatively inexpensive upgrade. See here:
